Good deal!

AWESOME Flick!
1 of 1 found this helpful Departures is one of the best movies to come out in years. Not just Japanese movies, any movie from any country. Culturally, having some knowledge of how historically the Japanese feel about people who deal with the dead brings the movie to a different level. Deep rooted in Shintoism, those who deal with the dead are looked down upon greatly in society. So when the main character begins work preparing the deceased for entombing, his friend's reaction would seem strange to a westerner but completely understandable to someone from Japan.
Departures is truly a work of art. Highly recommended to anyone who likes a good drama.
