Among the best of the best Masterpiece Theater series
I have been watching Masterpiece Theater for nearly 40 years and Downton Abbey is one of my top favorites of all time.
The cast and crew of Downton Abbey created a heart-warming (and sometimes heart-wrenching) epic that will remain a classic work for decades to come. No stone was left unturned in its production; the sets, the lighting, the lush surroundings of Highclere Castle where it was filmed and the superb acting all contribute equally to the creation of this 21st Century television masterpiece set in the early 20th Century.
Dame Maggie Smith's brilliant quips scattered throughout the dialogue are worth the price of admission alone!
