Works, But Alters Timing

I bought (2) of these to try on my 1965 Sears 'Ted Williams" 7.5hp outboard motor, made by MCCulloch. The motor needed new ignition points and condensers and the price of the Magnatune units was about the same as new points/condensers. The Sierra Magnatune is actually an ATOM ignition module, made in Australia I recorded the ignition timing with the breaker points prior to installing one of the Magnatune units, then recorded the timing with the Magnatune. I found the timing to be about 5 degrees advanced with the Magnatune relative to points. The spark looked good (blue/white).. Don't know how the motor will operate when installed on a boat, since my tests were performed with the motor on a sawhorse, spinning the motor with a drill. If my motor had adjustable ignition timing I would be quite happy with the Magnatune.

Good Flasher for LED's

bought this because I switched to led turn signals on my 81 vw scirocco. the led turn signals work great with this flasher unit. only problem is the dash turn signal indicator no longer works, though I don't think this has anything to do with the flasher unit.
