Worked... after trimming plastic in battery compartment
I was initially frustrated that I got no response using new batteries from the remote. Then I noticed that the + side of the batteries wasn't making contact with the metal so I had to use a utility knife to trim away extra plastic in the battery area of the device. No problems since that initial repair. The remote has worked well since, but definitely has a different, slightly squishier feel to the buttons then the similar remote from Samsung for my TV.

Simple player* (not using the internet connected features)
5 of 6 found this helpful I wanted to upgrade from an old DVD player and this simple player fit the need. Haven't run a hardwired network connection to take advantage of the streaming features - and may do so in the future, but I'm not expecting much if I do (There is no WifI available). Would be nice to know if the unit is on (There is no standby light). I like that it's able to start right where I left off last time on a disk.
