It was one of the most enjoyable films I've ever seen!
I saw this film on the IFC and was sorry I didn't see it with several east-coasters. This film truly captures the attitude, love, drama, melodrama, comedy and adhesiveness of a regular New York family. There is a different complexion to families on Long Island as opposed to those that have lived their whole life in the city itself. This film gets it. It's surprising, funny and very powerful at just the right times. Oddly enough, I'm not sure it would've been this good a project without the balance of talent throughout the cast. Stanley Tucci remains one of America's finest diamonds that most people recognize but don't know his name. Ann Meara (Ben Stiller's Mom) hasn't ever turned in a bad or even a weak performance in anything I've ever seen her in. I still believe she should've been nominated for "Awakenings". The casual and normal interactions with other New Yorkers throughout this film is not only believable but has happened to most New Yorkers in the course of their everyday lives in Manhattan. These characters are funny without losing the gritty New York attitude that makes New Yorkers the special people they are.
The fact is that in any crisis anywhere, you'd want to have a New Yorker nearby. They assemble, initiate, take control and solve problems that would take most anyone else weeks to coordinate and simplify enough to get the job done. When New York recently went into a large-scale blackout along with several other states in the northeast; New York took all of about 15 minutes to start manually directing traffic, searching for those caught in the subway system, calculating how food and water would be distributed throughout the area and how to get care to those greatest in need of medical attention. This is what it's like to be a New Yorker and all you have to sacrifice is ridiculous arguments similiar to what the rest of the World have seen on "Seinfeld", scrapes on the knee being bandaged and referred to as "Total reconstructive Surgery" and over-the-top knee-jerk solutions to the top stories of the day.
I recommend "Day Trippers" with all my heart and am confident that this will make you feel, smile, reason and think about your own life and how good things are and you'll no longer sweat the small stuff.

Perfectly great quality at a perfectly fair price
A garage was trying to convince me that my wiper problem was in the arm attached to the steering column and would have to be replaced at a cost of $300. I went online and found out that the arm is usually NOT the problem but, instead, it's the Pulse Board near the firewall. It's a simple item to replace and should cost about $20. Couple of screws and a self-explanatory clip-on plug that just snaps in place. My wipers weren't working on any of the delay settings and now, with the new Pulse Board, are working perfectly. Thank you and I'd recommend you to any of my buddies with the same issue.
