Best PCI video card for your server.
0 of 1 found this helpful Today’s market for old servers is cheap. They are pretty fast as a computer. Only one problem they don’t have a good video card, stock video is 8Mb to 32Mb off on board video. And you guess correct they do not have AGP and PCI-Express clot ether. Only one option – good PCI video card. My “old” server Dual Pentium IV 3.6GHZ and six GB memory running Windows XP 64bit will play music no problem. Video is different story all together. With on board video card it is imposable to do. So I got couple of High end PCI cards to play DVD movies. The best one I have is VisionTek ATI Radeon HD 2400PRO 256 MB. Video is excellent Quality even for a big screen TV. This server is for my video collection. If you looking for a excellent video card for your server look no farther. This card will play a lot of games on good setting, has a lot of drivers for Windows XP 32bit and 64bit to, it is also support by Windows Vista 32&64bit’s. Currently drivers are developing for Windows 7. So this card will not get old soon. This is my five cents.

Need space? Get 1TB drive
4 of 4 found this helpful I have Western Digital RE3 1TB WD1002FBYS drive's working in RAID-10.
In the Free NAS storage, a bit noisy.
1TB drives can be used with new and old controllers. Not all controllers will be able to support a 2 TB drives.
I can transfer file with 200MB/s from NES to my desktop over cooper 1GB network cable. They going down in price for the use one. I have one drive fail in 9 month in my RAID 10. Usual live span for the used drive is 2 to 5 years before failures. Currently use 16 drives in my server.
I recommend not to use them in RAID-5 setting.
An less you use 6 drives (RAID-50). If you can afford use WD RE-4 WD1003FBYX drives, you can gain 20% more in performance at the double of the cost.
