Still working after all these years.
I have two. I’m a medium wave DXer and have quite a collection of radios. Shortwave and FM reception don’t matter as much and neither does sound quality, to an extent. This radio does a good job on the AM broadcast band (MW). Not only is it plenty sensitive, it’s plenty selective. For example, you don’t get a lot of splatter from 850 KOA, our local blowtorch, on 840 and 860. You don’t need an external antenna to have fun doing MWDX - there are benefits to a portable’s internal antenna, the main one being the ability to peak or null stations and null local noise.

This model is a fine example of the technology of its era. It functions well on SSB for a portable and is respected in the MWDX community for its abilities in that area.
