Well worth the peace of mind. No fried fish.
Aquarium heaters fail. Doesn't matter what brand, how much you spend, how good or bad the ratings are, they just fail.
When they fail in the on position, you get fried fish and nobody wants that.
With the Inkbird, when the temperature in the tank reaches the temperature you set the Inkbird shuts the heaters off. No chance of fried fish.
I bought three of them. I calibrated them with ice water and found two to be accurate to the calibration and each other. The third was .4 degrees off but the inkbird has a calibration function so they are all the same.
I really wish this had two key features. One an alarm that sounded when the temperature drops below the temperature you set so you know if a heater failed in the off position.
Two I wish you could set the temperature in .5 degrees. For example if I set my temp to 79 degrees, the inkbird heats it to 79 then shuts off and the tank cools one degree (or more if you set it for more) then turns on again. I would prefer a .5 degree so my temp never got more than .5 degree below what I set. That said, one degree is fine for the fish.
