Nikon 16mm f/2.8 AIS Fisheye Lens
Nikon's 16mm Fisheye manual lense is known as the full-frame fisheye lens due to its' ability to fill up the 24 x 36mm format. Unlike other fisheye lenses you do not get a circular picture within the center of the film. The great aspect of all Nikon manual lenses is that they will also work with the digital format cameras; and the professional digital models will also recognize the f-stops if you enter the lens data. If you want the maximum in your wide angle, a lens that provides optimum quality, and you shoot both in film (for the higher resolution) and digital formats . . . the 16mm fisheye is the 1st speciality lens you should buy.
If you are a digital enthusiast then the AF 16mm fisheye is claimed to be improved over the AIS; however, for those of us who prefer to control the depth of field, like to manually focus, and were the fans of manual of fully manual cameras any Nikon AIS lens coupled with both manual and digital cameras is the way to go. Why? Because of the great optics, good resolution, and best of all the price . . . for the educated buyer any AIS lens provides optimum savings.
