Plantation life

Elizabeth Allston Pringle writes about plantation life before and after the Civil War using family diaries and stories along with first-hand experience. Her understanding of the slaves, their thinking and their actions, is well told. They were cared for and appreciated. This story shows a side of plantation life we don't often read about. It is beautifully written and a book I will keep for my personal library. Informative and entertaining.
