Touchingly Authentic
I heard this on the "Thistle & Shamrock" public radio show and had to have it, though I buy very few CD's. It is upbeat, celtic fiddle music with a slightly sentimental edge that only adds authenticity. Not Charlie Daniels-cheery, but uplifting nevertheless. You can feel rural Scotland in it. MacDonald is a Shetland Islands prodigy who was discovered early and sent for further education. Great alternative for the holidays as it doesn't scream "Christmas" but gives the flavor, and you can listen all year long!

Rollicking read
Shockingly candid memoir of a woman born to the purple who has enjoyed extreme good fortune and suffered heartbreaking losses. Written in easily-accessible language. Shows the human side of aristocrats.
