Try Areca

I have been using these since they came out. I had issues with these failing for no known reason in the past where I had a total of five failures to date. This card was used to repair one that failed. Raid cards are expensive, and as such I demand a more reliable solution. I tried an Areca brand and found that they are more cross-platform compatible and faster RAID 5/6 access speeds than this card. Although these AMCC 9650SE RAID cards are inexpensive and plentiful on ebay, I would recommend first buyers to avoid the possible headache by trying Areca.

Awesome hardware

Everyone who needs massive cheap storage with data integrity needs this device. Areca supports all operating systems. This only supports Pci-E version 1.0 and only 300gb SATA, but even so, out performs other controller cards and is bundled with awesome features. I reccomend using a battery, but this feature is sadly very expensive. If Areca lowered their prices, they could take over the controller marketplace overnight.

Works as designed.

First impressions, this board has many features. As described, shipped quickly. X58 doesn't support newer RX560/580/590 video cards and this motherboard has a pesky device driver issue which won't go away no matter what I do. HD7750 does however work good with board. Sometimes I leave the computer and when I come back, I have a blank screen which won't go away. Cannot use the last 8X PCI-e slot either or something goes wrong with 100% CPU Usage and making the system run like a Pentium 66. When it works, it works great, but if you want to run newer hardware, you may want to run newer chipset. Wish they had seven expansion slots rather than six, would make for more versatile spacing of PCI slots to improve on cooling.
