Works great on Xfinity once installed
Require installation on Xfinity by calling in and giving them the MAC address for the modem to be recognized & linked. Once that is done, the performance hits the limit of the bandwidth contract of 300Mbps. Xfinity does download and install new firmware automatically even tho' it is customer owned modem. This can break the connection; requiring another call to Xfinity support staff to reconnect. Most issues has been due to Xfinity side but the modem itself is solid. SB1683 has a more stable chip set than SB6190.

Very useful on older Media Receivers
A necessity for older High-quality media receivers without HDM inputs. Put this in between the HDMI device and your HDTV. Connect the SPDIF optical output to your media receiver, select 5.1 and enjoy Dolby Digital. Does not support newer HD formats but for most people Dolby 5.1 is good enough.

Works fine for the price
Good carbon filters for the price. Since filters should be changed annually, this is a good deal.
However, they are no quick disconnect types so you will need to add threaded adapters. Being threaded, you run the risk of leaks if you are not familiar with plumbing. For newbies, find filters with quick disconnects and avoid the potential leaks but they will cost more.
