Great lens. Just make sure you know what you are buying.
1 of 1 found this helpful First off, you need to know what you are buying. The seller received some negative feedback from people who didn't know what they were buying. If you don't know what a Holga is, I will explain.
The Holga is a medium format camera developed in China. It was intended to be a cheap camera Chinese families could afford. The end result was a cheap plastic camera, even the lens is plastic. A poor camera by most standards. But, artists found the plastic lens made for some really cool photos.
Someone, to their eternal credit created a DSLR version of the holga lens. Which is what this review is about. This lens is FANTASTIC! The images have an amazing old school quality to them. You do however need quite a bit of light or a lower shutter speed. You just need to play around with the lens to learn it's strengths and weaknesses. I am still playing around, but I can already tell that it will produce some amazing images. The lens it's self is cheapish feeling plastic; but that's the point. It's not a perfect fit, you can jiggle it around a bit. That's not a problem though. If the lens ever does get damaged, it's cheap enough to replace. Heck, I may even get a second one to have as a backup.
Overall this lens is pretty amazing IF you know what you are doing with it. If you are expecting the kind of quality you get out of a glass lens, this isn't the lens for you. If you are an artist and want another tool in your bag of tricks, this lens highly recommended.
