Tamiya TT-01D 1/10 RC Car NISSAN SKYLINE GTR Wide Body DRIFT W/ Stealth Mounts
    Aug 12, 2016
My first step into the RC Drift scene!
Years ago I always dreamed of getting a hobby grade RC car that was responsive, fast, and most importantly...COOL looking. Fast forward 12 years and all of a sudden I got a craving for that hobby grade RC and not only that though, but I specifically wanted a drift ready RC car. After spending over a month and a half of searching between everything from Exceed RC & Lightning EPX all the way up to MST, Yokomo, Sakura, etc...I decided to pick up this RTR Tamiya tt01d custom body Skyline GTR and I couldn't be happier. The car handles well and even though it's quite basic and is made mostly for 50/50 drifting, if you get the car side-ways enough, you can still get a little of the counter-steer action out of it, but it just won't hold the drift like that for nearly as long as a true CS RC build. Everything about the car is fantastic and I feel that this will be my big step into the RC world and give me a taste on whether or not I will continue to pursue this hobby and eventually step up my game to something ever better in the future, or if this car will suffice and be the perfect fit for me. Sure it's not as nice as the MST XXX-D I wanted - Brushed motor - No stock Counter-Steer gearing - Less stock adjust-ability BUT I got - Custom FINISHED high detail body - Stealth Mounts - Pre-installed lights - SUPERB pre-done cable management - SUPERB assembly - Unique! BODY (not one you find just anywhere in any hobby shop) One of the other MAIN reasons I chose to get this even when the MST XXX-D RTR kit was "Better" spec-to-spec for out of the box drifting, was because of the fact that if I decided to keep everything stock, I could just slap on some grip tires and the car would still run exceptionally well as a basic touring/basher where the MST would ONLY be good for drifting due to pre-installed/tuned counter steer, 1-way diff, etc... The other thing about this car is that it has been around so long that there are MANY hop-up parts for it and if I decide to upgrade it, finding parts wouldn't be difficult at all. 10/10 - Definitely recommend this RTR kit for anyone looking to getting into RC drifting or even someone who wants to increase their RC garage.
