Great amp for the price as long as you can find it for a decent price!
I do enjoy "vintage" Pioneer products - and this isnt my first vintage piece. I also own a Pioneer SA-510 (blue line) amplifier from 1980, as well as an SX-650. This amplifier definitely has the wattage that my other two lack, and for the most part, has good clarity to it as well - for something that has not been rebuild or recapped from what I can tell. A bit of cleaning to it and some de-oxidizing of the pots, and she sounds great! The LED lights for the amps "VU" meters are not all quite working, but this is a known issue with this line up (1982 to 1985). From what I have read and seen - its near impossible to fix - but there have been people who have actually fixed them so they all work (I am not one of those people). I added the matching tuner to it, and will possibly search out the matching cassette player and equalizer in the future to make it a complete set. I do recommend this model, or the all silver faced relative to it (SA-1040).

Truly is an amazing platter!
I honestly was not expecting a difference in sound quality - as I purchased it because it "looked cool". It looks fantastic on the Fluance (I purchased the 83 - even though I wanted the 85, but my budget just could not squeeze the extra money at the time. It does look amazing when playing any record (black vinyl or colored vinyl) - but the sound was more "organic"? It had some depth that I did not notice with my other platter, much less my other turntables (an Akai 207 and an Audio Technica 120). I am glad I bought the platter, and would do it again in a heartbeat!
