The best 2.1 THX computer/small media speaker system ever made!
The Logitech Z-2300 is the best 2.1 THX computer/small media speaker system ever manufactured (rivaled only by the Bose Companion 3 Series II, non-THX). Listening to "Dark Side of the Moon" (Apple Loseless) on these speakers convinced me that a high-def music library and iTunes should be an audiophile's new direction.
Could 2.1 ever get any better? Not that I've heard. 5.1 and beyond are marvels but most of my music was recorded and will remain stereo. Although I can look forward to some re-mastering, with few exceptions, most of the resulting higher definition audio will max out on 2.1 systems. Trying for more than that would result in artificial sound.
Fortunately there exists an eBay where high-quality products, regardless of vintage, will always be available. Though I can hope that iTunes Re-Mastering, from quadrophonic originals, of "Dark Side" may present a compelling reason to investigate the purchase of Logitech and Bose 5.1 and beyond systems.
