A 6x7 film camera that doesn't have to live on a tripod, sharp lenses too.
The Bronica GS-1 is smaller and lighter than the Mamiya RB or RZ67, and has much more compact lenses. Thus, this SLR is much more usable in the field, or off the tripod for fashion photography without being tied to a tripod. The camera operates very well and the lenses are sharp and focus very fast. The 150mm lens is barely any bigger than the 100mm lens. The 100mm lens focusses quite close for a medium format lens, and Bronica has a 2x tele adapter. 6x7 produces very nice slides, or shoot print film for large enlargements. One drawback is that there are less accessories for sale on e-bay compared to the Mamiya's. An old RB67 may cost you less, but if you want to hand hold, you'll enjoy the Bronica much more! I'm having a lot of fun with mine.

A sharp performer
Bronica's GS-1 PG series lenses were computer designed for excellent image quality. This lens produces sharp images and keeps the GS-1 kit light and useful in the field. PG lenses all take the same filter size, allowing you to have one set of filters for your kit. The lens features a depth of field preview button. Key points on this lens are to inquire about internal haze or dust and proper function of the electronics. I've shot both color and black and white through my lens.

Great way to get very large film images.
2 of 3 found this helpful The body construction is not a nice as a metal bodied camera, but this camera has a lot going for it. 6x7 film is the big one. Lenses will be very expensive, but are of high quality. With no mirror, and lens butters, this is the quietest camera i have ever used, even much quieter than a leica. The camera is lighter than most medium format cameras, and far lighter than the rb67. If you like film and don't mind a range finder, this is worth a look. Fillmore loading is easy. The meter is accurate. The range finder could have a much longer base. Its farther narrow, and that is my biggest complaint with this design. The narrow base, makes focussing a little harder than it needs to be. The viewfinder is very bright though.
