Mean Streets is Scorseses' first masterpiece!
The movie has a very real, almost raw, attitude. The charectors are both very believable and also very compelling. You want to know what happens to them. One of Robert De Niros first movies, and the very first time that De Niro and Scorsese worked together. This movie changed america cinema forever. The only thing to dislike about the movie is that it has to end. You want to continue following the lives of the people you have come to know.

Robert De Niro does a wonderful comedy!
This movie is lighthearted with a lot of humor and action! The plot is mostly believable, and always a lot of fun. I liked the witty banter between De Niro and Eddie Murphey. And they both gently poke fun at each other and themselves. Definatly worth watching. And aslo, the woman who plays Chase's assistant in the film is Robert De Niro's stepdaughter from his first marriage!
