Very loud, which is good, and can be turned off. Strobe light is great for those with extreme hearing loss or if you turn off the speaker to rely only on a visual alert to not wake someone up. Worked just fine on my Obihai/Poly 200 VoIP telephone adapter.

The Viofo A119 is probably the best value in dash cameras out there.
I have installed three A119 dash cams in various vehicles over the past two years. All still function perfectly. Previously I've used mini 0801 and 0805 dash cams. Both were very good but had a fatal flaw, they both used lithium polymer batteries. LiPo batteries always seem to fail in the heat. I never got more than two years use out of one before replacing the battery, and in the mini that is a royal pain (soldered in and tight). If the battery fails the camera may not save the last video to the SD card if the power is cut, like it could be in a collision. You could lose the very frame/video you needed most! Worse, the camera functions fine and often gives you no notice that the battery has failed, giving you a false sense of security. The A119 uses super capacitors to power the dash cam just long enough for the camera to save the last video properly to SD when it loses power. Super caps seem to hold up well in the heat (so far).
Other very nice A119 features:
- camera can be aimed vertically AND horizontally for the best view. This is unique to the A119.
- the A119 warns you by beeping when it cannot record to SD for whatever reason, such as a failed SD card
- the GPS mount works great, holds the camera well and obtains the GPS signal quickly
- it can use a up to a 128GB microSD card. Larger cards last longer. One thing to note, for whatever reason, the minis and Viofo work best with Samsung cards. Other cards I've used have occasionally caused the cameras to lock-up. Never with a Samsung card. I'm now using their endurance SD cards they make specifically for dash cams and security cameras.
- many cars have switched 12V power in the rear view mirror area. I bought a 12V to USB converter, tapped into a switched power wire, and tucked it up in the headliner making for a very clean looking installation.
- daytime video is great and nighttime is good.
I like the A119. Probably the best value in dash cams.
The picture I've posted is the camera recording an driver running a red light. Luckily I proceeded with caution and didn't get hit as he blew through the red light at around 40MPH. I had the green light for 3 seconds before he came blowing through. The picture clearly shows the green light I had. Had this turned out badly, it could have been a case of my word against theirs to decide fault if not for the dash cam.

Definitely makes the fan quieter.
It reduces the fan speed and as such the noise and the amount of airflow. As long as you know that the reduced airflow won't adversely affect your system, then this is a quick and easy way to reduce noise.
