rustic and sturdy "breakfast knife"
Not the best fit and finish, but a nice solid oak handle and a great blade.
after the first washing, the handle was a little rough from water exposure, but I was able to sand it smooth and soak in mineral oil and now it's excellent.
also the factory edge was not very sharp. The edge was folded over in a significant burr, which can occur from hasty or inexperienced sharpening. However, a few swipes on my ceramic honing rod produced an edge that could slice paper easily.
I also tried the Opinel Brunch knife, which has better fit and finish for about the same price. The opinel has the same size and shape blade, but the handle on the Opinel is much smaller in diameter and a little shorter in length, and doesn't feel as reassuringly solid or fill the hand as well.
The next step up is the Buckels knife from Robert Herder, which has excellent fit and finish but costs twice as much.
I highly recommend the knife in this listing for your cheese board, slicing salami or sausages, or charcuterie, provided you're reasonably handy with maintaining and honing knives and edges, and are willing to do a little maintenance.
I've included photos of the "Original Buckelsmesser" side by side with the Opinel Brunch Knife, showing the much better handle shape on the former

compelling
pony express lives large in the american imagination, despite being a commercial failure and folding after a few short years. Compelling book.

Best can opener, and made in USA
1 of 2 found this helpful Best can opener, and made in USA. The same factory used to make the openers for Swing-a-way, but then swing-away switched their production to Asia ez-fix-it started productions under their own brand. We have this EZ-DUZ-IT and a Chinese swing-a-way and there’s no comparison. Get the Ez-duz-it.
