Halo: Reach. This is how it all began.
Reach tells the story of where the Halo saga all began, a human colony named Reach. When the Covenant appears out of nowhere and begins an invasion of massive proportions, it is all the humans can do to fight to stay alive long enough to evacuate the planet. You play as the quiet and faceless Noble 6, the newest edition to a group of elite Spartan III's known as Noble Team. As part of this group you'll face off against seemingly insurmountable odds while executing top secret, nigh impossible missions. The story is a grand-arcing affair, taking you from cities to barren wastelands, and from lush vegetated mountains to a cavernous underground archeological site. One mission even sees you take to close-orbit space as you fight to defend a docking station against incoming waves of Covenant fighters. Needless to say, this game fully fits the definition of epic. Although you only play as the one Spartan throughout, Reach can best be described as an ensemble game. There are only a handful of moments throughout the campaign that you are without the company of at least one fellow super-soldier. This presents one of the games oddest dichotomies. The enemy AI is markedly improved from its predecessors, especially on Legendary. Even one single Elite needs to be respected, or you will quickly find yourself plastered against a nearby wall with the guttural laugh of the Elite echoing down the corridor. However, in either an effort to offset this, or as a story telling mechanism (to make sure they don't die), your Spartan companions are invulnerable. This can obviously be used to your benefit allowing them to soak up the hits as you pepper the enemies from a comfortable fifty yards away. However, if you are playing on Legendary this could be your only lifeline in some areas, as some of the fights can be ridiculously hard at times. (Note, when I discuss the AI or toughness of the game throughout this review, I'm referring to facing them in any way that does not use the plasma pistol + battle rifle “noob combo.” Even though this is a legitimate way to play, I find that it trivializes the experience and tend to not use it.) As mentioned earlier, the AI for Elites has improved tremendously. They dodge and flank like never before, leaving the unprepared as an easy target. Vehicles can also can be punishing to the unwary. One new vehicle in particular stands out, as it's quick-firing cannon and lightning-fast driver reflexes will spell certain doom to you at least several times throughout the campaign. However, to help you through the story, you'll find the newest element to the Halo games in the form of Armor Abilities. These have taken the place of the gadgets from Halo 3, and serve to be a main staple of the game play. They come in several flavors, including Active Camo, Armor Lock, and Jet Packs. These all see full use in online matches as well as in single player, and can at many times decide the difference between life and death. I lost count of how many times I made it around a corner under a hurricane of plasma fire with only a sliver of health left thanks only to Sprint.

Definitely not your average Call of Duty game.
The game is based on the 1960's Vietnamese war. Your Captain Alex Mason, who is taken into interrogation to supply answers upon a code of numbers, however he doesn't know what they mean or what they refer to. As well as having the campaign played in real time, instead they are recalled, from Mason's memory of what he has been through. It seems like a nice change for the story, but it's nothing too special. In Addition to the war, there is a deadly biochemical weapon known as Nova 6. This deadly gas is a killer to human beings. It may seem like a drug which seems cheesy enough as it is. The story supplies a decent background upon places you set in like Cuba, Russia, Vietnam and others that are in range along the way. As well as that, having historical characters including John F. Kennedy, Robert McNamara, and Fidel Castro kicks a little extra. You play as multiple characters on behalf of the events that occurred, though everything does come through in the end, it comes from a form of a mix-up that of which includes loads of killing soldiers. The story doesn't show a lot but it does pass, as well as having to finish the campaign with ease under a few hours, it does hold succession in being fun at first play. DESIGN As much as the campaign goes, it still follows the same routine, following objectives and killing numerous enemies in your path. There are various types in playing the campaign. For instance you pilot a chopper and ride on a boat, obliterating enemy lines in the way. Another involves having to command your team from an aircraft, alternating from that to executing with your team towards the objective. You even go underwater, to commence an attack from underneath a base. These share the same concept in having extreme action that keeps you entertained and highly on your toes. Besides the campaign, the multiplayer was the main thing in Call of Duty. Levelling up is quicker. The equipment, kill streaks and perks you have are bought using points instead of being unlocked at a certain level. The points you gather is still normal, having to kill enemies, capturing objectives and planting and defusing bombs are the same. You can still play in various game modes such as team death match, free-for-all, domination, etc. Also you have your enhanced Nazi Zombie mode, holding off waves of zombies from either doing it solo or in a party up to 4 players. Aside from that, the new additions were superb. The new wager matches are your 4 experimental matches using specific weapons and equipment playing alongside a certain set of rules. One In the Chamber has each player with three lives, armed with only a pistol and a melee knife, both of which kill with one hit. The pistol is loaded with just one bullet, but each kill will be rewarded with an extra bullet. Sticks And Stones has each player equipped with a crossbow with three explosive darts, a ballistic knife and a tomahawk. Kills with the crossbow or ballistic knife score 100 points, melee kills score 25, and tomahawk kills score nothing but reset the victim's points to 0. Gun Game starts with a pistol and ending with a ballistic knife, the winner is the first player to get a kill with every one of a set sequence of 20 weapons. Each kill advances you to the next weapon, but falling victim to a melee sets you back one. Sharpshooter has every player equipped with the same randomly generated weapon for a 45-second period whereupon a new weapon is randomly generated for everyone, then another aft

Great sequel to the original game
It gave great shoot-em up gameplay mixed with with a touch of stealth. For its time, it even rivaled metal gear solid. So now here comes the sequal, and is it any better? Yes and no. Yes, its better, but only slightly. This might actually be considered Syphon Filter 1.5, since it has only slight improvements over the orginal. Now you control Lian as well as Gabe (she is identical to Gabe in combat ability believe it or not), and each has thier own missions. Graphics are still sharp, though they seems less colorful this time around. Gameplay is still amazingly inventive, and fun to play. Lian in the early stages seems more geared towards stealth, while gabe gets to gun down more people. personally, i think its great, but is still missing some things. Chief amougnst them is Gabe's 2 classic weapons: The Silenced 9mm and the Stun Gun. Both are presnt in the game but not standard issue... what gives? The new voice for Lian also doesnt seem to fit her character, and I miss the old on. Thie orginal Gabe voice is back, thank god. Mara Aramov (from the orginal) has now bleached her hair blond (she was a better Redhead) and taken a more active role. Goody, now I can gun her down... i hope. Speaking of guns, there is not a lot more of them, From Cross bows to knives (for hand to hand) to new automatics, The guns are plentyful. You're sometimes gaive a LOT more options on how to kill someone, which is fine by me. also new is a 2 player mode! This is a fun kill fest that is easily customizable. Kinda like a Syphon Filter version of Goldeneye's battles. My only complaint in this mode is that the arenas are smaller than they should be in some cases. But it takes Syphon Filter to a whole new ball game with this! HOORAY! Shooting people has never been this much fun. Its a worthy purchase, ESPECIALLY if you are a fan of the orginal. Now excuse me, i have to go kill some annoying guards. Graphics-9. Slightly less colorful than the orgianl, giving it a slightly gritty feel. Camera-10. Thank god they kept this in tact. Controls-10. I dont understand why people have so many problems with the controls, they are much better than any other 3rd personal game i can think of. From RE to TR, this game beats em all. gameplay-8. Same old same old, though in this case, its like driving a classic corvette rather than a used for escort. A bit more emphasis on stealth than the orginal. replayability-9. Heck I have to play thru again just to unlock some of the cool stuff in MP mode! Overall-9. Kick butt!
