A fair deal goin' down
Put this phono preamp on your short list of inexpensive phono stages. It replaces an aged tube preamp with a phono stage. Bass and treble are both extended. Mid range is rather good. No complaints. Again put it on the short list list of inexpensive but quality phono stages. Wish MF was still making the super up 12 volt power supply.
Using this with a high quality limited edition Audio Technician moving magnet with a ruby cantilever. It works well with the 47K loading for the MM. Controls are minimal which is not a problem.

Sony Playstation PSCH-1001
This model of the original playstation does an excellent job of playing a CD. I use it in my system as the primary CD player. There are probably a number of contributing reasons why the CD playback is well thought of including the Class A output amplifier (I am fairly sure of that), the plastic case, the top loading system, RCA outputs which allow you to pick your own poison (interconnects), small footprint allowing you to easily isolate it from vibration and simplicity. About the only thing that breaks is the laser lens drive mechanism and that is a $20 or less repair job.
Really good sound, cheap, but no features. Still an excellent deal.

NRG-Z3 does work and is a good value
Excellent value. It does improve the quality of the sound. Affects a more relaxed, more confident, and less fatiguing sound. I am now using six NRG-Z3 csbles in my system.
