2005 2006 Cadillac Escalade ESV EXT TPMS Tire Pressure Sensors OEM Replacement
Oct 31, 2019
Right sensors for 2005 Escalade, Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon
Second try is the charm. I purchased some cheaper sensors thinking they would work with my 2005 Escalade but that was not the case. Apparently the sensor type changed after 2006 for the main GM SUVs. I brought the sensors to R&B Tires & Tunes in Atlanta who installed them at a fraction of the price of the dealership and other tire shops. The sensors come with an instruction sheet and they are already programmed and ready to install. Once the TPMS sensors were installed and the tires were re-installed on my truck, the TPMS learning procedure was initiated. With the help of the tire sensor learning tool, we were able to quickly set each sensor with no problem, and without the need to let air out of each tire. The antennas on these sensors have to be pretty strong, as the learn tool set the tires from distances of over a foot away. I wasn’t expecting that. FINALLY, the dreadful “SERVICE TIRE MONITOR” message is gone. I recommend these sensors (for GM SUVs and trucks compatible with the 05 Escalade), and if you live in Atlanta, I recommend R&B Tires & Tunes to install them.

Steering Wheel Radio Volume Control Switch 4 Button Set GM Trucks & SUVs
Nov 12, 2019
Had to modify the volume/seek button
This was the second time I purchased replacement steering wheel buttons for my 2005 Cadillac Escalade due to the bulbs being blown. The first time, I only purchased a volume/seek button which did not function properly, I then when to a salvage yard and found one that did work properly; the only issue was the bulbs we blown on this one as well. So I decided to purchase these buttons since they were advertised to work with my vehicle. Every button functioned properly accept again: the volume/seek button. I decided to take it apart and see if I could find out the difference between this button and my original button that worked fine. After looking at the circuitry of both button boards, they seemed to be merely identical (minus the upgrade to led diodes). Then I took a look at the blue rubber button ‘springs’. I found my answer. Underneath these blue springs are contacts, the original (shown on the left) has gold plated contacts while the new replacements have contacts made from what appears to be graphite. This makes a difference in the signal sent through the can-bus system which is why a different function was performed while pressing the new button (only on the volume/seek button, the other three worked fine) never good to have an analog system attempting to pass as digital. This is probably why this system was phased out. After placing the old button spring with gold platted contacts in the new button, it worked perfectly. Manufacturer tried to save a few cents by skipping on the needed gold plated contacts. Don’t be quick to throw out your old buttons, you’re going to need the rubber springs from them likely.
