Humor In Uniform At Its Best!
I originally saw this movie as a child in a US Air Force base movie theater when it was first released around 1959 and still recall the reaction of the audience, comprised mostly of new airmen who were getting their basic training, was enjoyment and appreciation for the antics of No Time For Sergeants, and that humor in uniform was not the exclusive domain of the British in the Terry Thomas "Carry On" movies. I am happy to see that this movie is available now on DVD and find that it still holds its own. Contrary to the "experts" on Wikipedia who claim that Gomer Pyle U.S.M.C. came as a spin-off of the Anday Griffith Show, I stll believe Gomer Pyle is actually the television incarnation of No Time. I suggest that you watch it and judge for yourself. While lacking the heavy anti-war social commentary of the movie M.A.S.H., the zany comedy of Mr. Roberts or silliness of The Wackiest Ship In The Army, No Time For Sergeants demonstrates in many ways how and under what circumstances acronyms such as S.N.A.F.U. come into being. For we see in No Time twhen we are able to laugh at the humorous side of uniform life, we are able to cope with the seriousness and stresses of war, be it hot or cold. If you have lived life in the military or were around in the 50s or 60s, I think you would find Andy Grffith and Nick Adams make a strong comedic showing. My only regret was that the pair never reprised their roles in a sequel. But then again, there was Gome Pyle. I give this video a Hup,Two.Three,Four Stars out of five.

Transformers Revenge of the Fallen (Blu-ray)
Having view the movie in the theater, I believe that the Blu-ray edition does the movie justice.Video transfer to Blu-ray is spectacular, as is the soundtrack, though the Transformers theme is not as prominent as played in the first release.. I know Paramount is a relative newbie to Blu-ray, previously committed to the HD format, they still need to work at getting up to speed in the areas of the BD Live and something besides the plain grey discs found in this two-disc special edition. The additional disc features are entertaining and informative with respect to the history of the transformers/autobots. Like most studios some of the features are not high-def, which is an area of improvement to strive for. As for the movie, while not having not as much meat in the plot line as the first Transformers movie, Revenge of the Fallen does make up for the shortfall by providing more special effects, with damage to bridges, sky scrapers and ancient temples as the two groups of mechanical aliens use earth for their battlefield. If you enjoyed the first, you will like this release, especially in Blu-ray. 7.5 Twistoflexes out of 10.

Star Trek (Original Series) Season 2 - Blu-ray
Paramount continues from Season of The Original Series Season One, with the Blu-ray release Season Two. As with the first season, Paramount has enhanced the original footage with state-of-the-art graphics and special effects to not only utilize the full effects of the Blu-ray, but breath life into the series. Series fans will appreciate the new look which complements and enhances the footage, giving it a more contemporary appearance. For the curious or purists, you may view the same episode with original special effects. The original footage has been enhanced and never looked as good, making the series viewable to fans, both old new. Unlike some other contemporary re-releases, such as the Original Planet of the Apes, where the Blu-ray medium makes the special effects seem dated and stale (particularly in the opening scenes), Paramount has made STOS #2 a winner.Rating: Maximum Warp, Mr.Sulu.
