Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Professional Edition

Sometimes, older is better

If you want an affordable license for writing functional 64bit apps, consider an older version of MS Visual Studio like this one. Yes, MS Visual Studio free versions are available, but you cannot sell your programs for profit if you use those. Last time I checked, MS Visual Studio full licenses start at $500 and up. Again -- this version generates 32 bit and 64 bit code, and most folks agree the MS Visual Studio is a very user-friendly GUI. Maybe the best? If you can afford a complete license for the newer versions, or don't intend to sell your programs, then maybe this is not for you. Just keep in mind the later versions will also take up a lot more hard disk, might do a lot of things you don't need, hence being processor hungry and subject to lag and freezes on some systems --- and might only install on Win 10, and who knows what demands will be next? As for this product -- MS Visual Studio 2005 -- it installs and runs nicely on Win 7 without much fuss. It is lightweight and manageable on both humble and great PCs. Microsoft was still doing it right when this was created. Be sure to search online and find and install the service packs that are still available as of this writing.
