Very Nice
3 of 3 found this helpful This is a really terrific idea and I commend the manufacturers. Coffee roasters are ridiculously expensive and are usually nothing more than hybrid popcorn poppers that handle about 4 ounces of raw beans. That translates to a hell of a lot of time standing on my deck, in the cold or sun, roasting a weeks' worth of beans.
The design of this thing is beautifully simple and elegant. Small efficient motor, metal gearing and choice of heat source. The glass allows a novice to watch and the four support members force the beans to tumble. Glass oven-top cleaner would keep this thing looking like the day it was bought for years.
The downside. We love coffee and roasting 200 -300 gram batches would drive me crazy.
I would happily shell out more money for this unit if it was larger and comfortably capable of a 450 - 500 gram roast of green beans in a reasonable 12-15 minute time frame.
Nonetheless, beautiful engineering. Good minds came up with this.

Supremo?
7 of 7 found this helpful I hate writing bad reviews but I just don't feel right about this product. I have been roasting my coffee for about ten years. Colombian Supremo has been our choice of green coffee beans for a long time. I purchased this product because my long-time source had just jacked up their price on a similar amount, by $10. I was annoyed.
When I received these beans, I could tell something was amiss the moment I opened the bag. Supremo beans are somewhat larger than ordinary coffee beans. Noticeably so. For the time being, I dismissed my concern and roasted them to five seconds into second crack, which is my personal favorite.Then some a little darker and some lighter. I usually do about six, 2-cup loads. Afterwards, I compared them to Supremo, side by side. They clearly were a third smaller.
I didn't mention anything and the next day brewed it up, my standard grind and amount. The wife immediately noticed the difference and asked me what was wrong with the coffee today. She was correct. It was coffee but certainly lacked the character of a good cup of Supremo. I tossed the batch and over the next few days tried the lighter and darker at different grinds and amounts.
I will not provide the name of the supplier I was previously using (and went back to), as it would taint this review. Nor am I going to draw any conclusions.
Anyway, if you're going to try this coffee, purchase a relatively small amount and compare it with similar products before you go all-in.

First Rate Model.
This is my 3rd model ship and by far the best. I had previously attempted this particular ship, albeit manufactured by Constructo. Constructo uses exotic woods from Africa, however, their instructions can be ambiguous and their customer service is pretty much non-existent. I like exotic wood but I must have a source for more in case of problems. I spent two months trying to obtain some spare wood from them and had to give up.
Anyway, you can see the quality and detail that went into this model immediately. They use similar exotic woods. However, the instructions explain to contact them if you have a problem and they will provide materials free of charge. The instructions are both text and photograph and very detailed. The materials are first rate and well organized. I go into this project very satisfied with my purchase and confident that I will eventually produce a first rate model.
