About
Well, I`m a '83 model, so I`ll be a classic in 2003 lol! But rust free so far, and still a couple miles left... I`m really into cars, which is my big passion in life and have been ever since I was 3 years old.

Great kit, but ridiculously expensive!
Tamiya makes awesome kits, they are very, very detailed, and this is no exception. However, since it's an out of Production kit, prices seem to og from $100 and up. If you can get one for under that, I would recomend you to buy it. I got mine for $50 because the decals were bad.

A good movie if you are an Earnhardt fan
This movie in general is about Dale Earnhardt sr`s life from a kid to his tragic death at Daytona in 2001. The movie could have been a bit more personal, but overall a good movie. It`s a great way to know where Dale came from, and how he achieved the fame he did.
The extramaterial is also good, with highlights from his career: first Road Course win at Sonoma etc. Also a few interviews.
Dont watch this movie unless you`re a NASCAR fan (which I obviously am) cos you`re likely to be bored to death. But if you love NASCAR, watch it! It`s no Days of Thunder, but it`s still good.

Actually a very great kit for being an old mold.
It goes together surprisingly well, a few fit issues with the walls/decks the higher up you get, but nothing major. Had a missing part in my kit, but I have talked to others who have bought the same kit and they say the part was in theirs, so that might just be a one time mistake. All in all I`m very happy with it, just remember: it IS an old kit after all, and the details (or lack thereof) show it. One idea to 'liven' the model up a bit is to buy N-scale model railroad figures and place around the model. A few tips: Preiser 'US Railroad Workers' to use for firemen and engineers, 'Hobos' to use for deckhands, 'US Railroad Personel'l to use as captain, 1st officer and even a waiter in white uniform, and Model Power 'Steam Era People' for period correct passengers. I even found some N scale hay bales to use for load.
The good:
*Generally very good fit on the parts, with a few exceptions.
*Good step-by-step directions, hard to get this one wrong if you follow the instructions.
*It's big! It's the biggest one of the plastic paddlewheelers out there.
*Comes with black thread for rigging, if you are so inclined.
*It just looks darn good when done!
The bad:
*It does not have a wooden texture on the upper decks like it does with the lower decks.
Tip: Buy Evergreen Styrene V-groove sheets and add to the upper decks.
*Can be hard to get the upper decks and walls to fit correctly if you did not do a good, precise job with the main deck, especially the curvature.
*A bit under-detailed, but it makes up for it in looks.
