L & N locomotives and history

If you are a modeler of the Louisville and Nashville historic railroad or interested in the history of the railroad and southern railroads in general, this book is a must have for the "steam era" motive power of the "Old Reliable" (L & N) and its subsidiaries and mergers. Each classification of locomotive receives a section with introductory narrative followed by tables containing the locomotive information, which includes original engine numbers and all subsequent re numbering after acquisition and/or rebuilding. This is accompanied with many historical photographs and drawings of the locomotives. These photos are a treasure trove for the modeler of equipment long long gone from the visual landscape. There are also sections on other equipment and the shops that were prominent in keeping the engines and railroad running! I was fascinated the instant I opened the book,,and couldn't put it down. This is not a new book and it's last revision was in 1968,,,but since the steam "Iron Horse" has gone the way of the dinosaurs this compendium and history is frozen in time,,making a book like this "ageless".

Not Chopin's piano!😉

Fun learning/kinetic activity. As with many of this type of multi function/sound/light learning toys it can be a bit overwhelming to a toddler as they jump from one sound and light and activity to another. The age is very important,,or it just becomes a hyper activating sound/light show.
