Square Trade does not cover first year but you pay for it.
1 of 1 found this helpful The big downside to this warranty is that it starts immediately upon purchase. The trouble is that a big screen TV has a 1 year manufacturer's warranty. Hence any problem in the first year will be covered by the manufacturer not Square Trade. So if you buy a 2 year warranty you are only getting a 1 year warranty- Square Trade does not have to be concerned about the first year, they know that, and are really billing your for 2 years but only have to cover the second year. If they wanted to be fair, they would come in after the manufacturer warranty. I am certain if you had a claim in the first year and called Square Trade, they would say don't call us, call LG.
