Neat Gadget!
1 of 1 found this helpful Works well on all my devices as long as the data connection is fast enough. Was difficult to get outside access setup because my router was not in their database. Easy to get going on the local LAN. Identified local IP on the box and forwarded all outside traffic to Port 5001. The newer boxes use different port numbers. If you are a gadget geek, you will have a ton of fun getting one of these going and accessing it abroad!

Sophisticated Tool
This is a complicated piece of equipment. It has hundreds of settings and diagnostic tools. There are no comprehensive online tutorials that explain all settings. Most technical details are provided in training sessions by companies that install satellite equipment (DirecTV, Dish, etc.) Unless you already know, you will be on your own figuring correct meter settings for your application. It is a quality instrument, definitely worth the money, but it may not be easy to use.

Good But Has Issues
I got this device to bank OTA programs for efficient time management. An added USB HDD or SDD is essential for smooth operation. I added a 4GB HDD and enclosure for less than $100; visit a local Microcenter for the best deal. My option allows about three months of heavy recorded content storage. The four tuner model is able to capture most of the shows I want in a market with about thirty available OTA options. I have not used my Tablo with Roku yet, but I do have one. Tablo does a great job recording content. The Tablo app on my old Android phone glitches often. It does a terrible job streaming live broadcasts, and less frequently on recorded content. When I jump around too often inside shows, the streaming server on Tablo crashes, and it takes several minutes for it to reset before using again. I am not sure if issues are due to my phone, Tablo, or both. In spite of these minor issues, I like what this little box does, and I have the patience to work through them. Also, Tablo gets really hot. I remedied this by resting it atop a laptop cooling pad; got it from a Goodwill for ninety cents.
So, to sum this up, I do not recommend Tablo for less experienced technology users with little patience, especially on the mobile phone app. You are going to be frustrated with the crashes. Others that understand how this works and like that the recorded content can be ported from the HDD for uses outside of the Tablo interface will love it!
