225 Mercury Optimax (1999)
My Optimax motor has 450 hours on it. Blew the stainless steel reeds in 2016, they were replaced at 280 hours. I got lucky twice, still have good compression on all cylinders. Did some research on glass/carbon fiber reeds and went with these Boyesen Reeds. Price wasn't too bad but you also have to add the gaskets price.
Overall, so far that is, they appear to be working fine. Great idle, slight change of sound. They are warrantied for one year so, we'll see how they hold out.
Highly recommend sanding/lapping your reed cages prior to installation for better seal.

Better than steel or cast iron
Ended up with crap shafts, had to spend more $ to reshaft. Irons feel good though. Soft, much better with new shafts.

Compact/Sturdy
