Affordable upgrade option for Windows 7
I bought one of these for a budget-specified Dell Optiplex 740 at work. Dell does not officially support these machines running Windows 7, but drivers are available. Unfortunately, certain programs (read: any Microsoft Solitaire game!) would crash because the Intel-provided integrated graphics driver wasn't up to the task. Dedicated graphics are always a better option. I asked a friend in IT for a recommendation, and he pointed me to this particular product, saying every time he's bought one, it was a solid performer. I had the computer up and playing solitaire, playing web video, and otherwise running more smoothly in no time. (I did have to swap out the monitor because it was old enough to have only DSUB-in, but that was no big deal.) Bottom line: if you have an older Dell Optiplex machine that's making the jump from Windows XP to Windows 7 or beyond and don't need barn-burner graphics, upgrade the video hardware inexpensively with one of these cards and you'll enjoy decent set-it-and-forget-it performance.
