Important collection for Cocteau Twins fan
1 of 1 found this helpful This box set is a must for any Twins fans. For the new fan it offers a great crash course from the early 80's to the early 90's.
The box set is a collection of EPs (Tiny Dynamine, Echoes in a Shallow Bay, Love's Easy Tears), and singles. There is a bonus CD which includes songs used on compilation albums. The EPs alone make this box set a must have.
The price tag in 1993 or whenever I bought my orignal box set was 60$ or so. Maybe it was even 80$, I don't recall, but it was expensive back then. Due to the price the box set might be a leap for a new fan. But I am sure if you already like the music that you'll be more than pleased with the box set.

I made the cover art of this book
0 of 1 found this helpful I bought up copies of this book because I did a series of art comissioned by the publisher, and I focused on flags and let them choose the one to use for the cover. For a decade this cover was used. I felt it was important as an artist to not focus on nationality or unimportant topics that might divide us,and nothing divides more than a flag. And so it was odd that the editor singled me out to do it.
My flags were more than what they seemed on the surface, I thought strongly about who would be buying this book, and why. So these flags are layered. One flag was done on top of a price list for a recent show I had in NYC, and so it's first layer in my mind was capitalism, without judgement of good or bad. Artists need to eat too. But as I applied stripes and the block of blue and the fifty stars new ideas took over. Each flag was began under some spirit. The one they chose I made for lawyers actually. And it was the first one I began too.
I had trouble doing the stars on such a small scale (the medium was oil pastels). But one day as I was walking the streets of the city I found a little tiny plastic star. Was meant to be.
I played around with doing the "Don't tred on me" flag, since I liked that concept better than a flag of a nationstate.

Stepping stones
This album is not good, it only contains very good songs for those of us intersted in the post punk movement. Tone on Tails was part of the Bauhaus, Love and Rocket side projects, experiments, or whatever. There are great songs on this collection, Go! and Happiness are songs worth having no matter what tastes you have.
In my opinion is it worth having, as are other albums connected to Daniel Ash, David J, and Haskins. This trio has been responsible for much of the music I love, directly, or influenced others.
