This product is complicated compared to ...
This product is complicated compared to other CD recorders I have used. It does the job but does not seem intuitive and requires additional steps other recorders I have owned (Sony & Phillips) do not. It also has other functions and will make recordings of super audio CDs. As a player it is easy to use -- simply insert a disk, press start and you get music.

A good modern outing of Haydn chestnuts
Harry Christophers & soloists and his band The Sixteen start the Symphony 103 a bit oddly with an improvisation, then take some oddball speeds later in the first movemet. It seems to go fairly well after that though the performance won't supercede any you love. They are much better in the Theresa mass Haydn wrote to honor a royal of the same name. Here is playing and singing up to higher standards. Maybe soprano Mary Bevan doesnt distinghish herself and her part the way Erna Spoorenberg did way back in the 1960s under George Guest ... but no one else has either. This is a modern performance in period style, not quite at jackrabbit speeds but quicker than you'd have known 40 years ago. It skips a long a bit of the time without much gravitas the way they do things today. The sound is good though some woodwind details are obscured in the concert (AKA "live") recording. All tolled, however, this is a worthy performance that can hang its hat with the best there ever were.

Could sound much better
This is a unique recording from radio broadcasts but the sound quality is poor. I bought it to remake it on my equipment but for some reason was unable to amplify the sound of the original. This is no comment on the vendor who sold it to me. They did a fine job.
