I'm not a valve expert, but I can say that these 12AU7s (together with a set of 12AT7s) have shaken up my XiangSheng 728A pre-amp: toning down the previously rather heavy bass without losing impact or detail, and adding a richer mid to the sound.
Having said that, the supplied valves are not too bad either, compared to many Chinese valves, and for cheaper or less bassy speakers than mine would probably by OK.
