I love the 45-rpm record with a picture sleeve which was very carefully placed in a plastic bag, sandwiched between two pieces of hard cardboard in a paper bag and then shipped securely in an envelope marked "Fragile". The item is exactly as described via the seller's words and clear photos. The record plays perfectly and sounds great! The seller is excellent! A⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!

Western Soul a la Penn
Here we have a strong singer backed by fine musicians, expertly produced by Dan Penn, who has been around the block a few times before. There are not many who knows the territory where soul and country overlaps better than Penn and he puts this knowledge to perfect use here. A case in point is the Brothers' version of what is arguably Penn's best song ever "It Tears Me Up". Percy Sledge made a soul version steeped in country sensibility that moved high both on the R&B and pop charts back in the late 60's. Here we have the reverse, a country treatment with a good helping of soul. Though it has all the right ingredients of a hit it is unlikely to zoom up the country charts, becuase the times have changed. The absolute highlight of the CD is the title track, a brand new song co-composed by Penn with the band's lead guitarist. It's a timeless country ballad with a hook so simple and catchy you wonder why no one hasn't come up with it before. It's performed to perfection, the right arrangement with a soulful vocal as the icing on the cake. If there still is a chart for Percy Sledge to climb this would be the song for him to record... The CD ends unexpectedly with an instrumental. While it is out of character with the rest of the CD, almost ambient in sytle, it works wonderfully and is a testament to the talent and good taste that went into the making of this CD that deserves a lot more recogntion than I fear it will get.
