A nice piece of hardware that could have been good had it been given better support
Let's start with the good:
This is a solid little entry-level VR device that fits nicely and is very comfortable. It has many nice features such as auto launching the app when putting your phone in the holder. It's responsive, functional (at a hardware level), and comfortable. I wear glasses and it works splendidly while I wear my glasses. It supports a rather good range of Android devices.
Now the Bad:
There's a lot of reasons I can't recommend the Google Daydream View. First, there is a major lack of support and apps from Google VR store. Secondly, there's some bugs that directly affect functionality, such as the recent bug I encountered of getting a black screen and loss of functionality when installing any new apps.
The controller tends to drift very often, but that's remedied with a quick re-calibration by holding the button.
Overall:
With the recent price drops, I can recommend if you want to enter into the world of VR but don't want to spend hundreds on a headset. It does have some neat apps, and I really like that you can take panorama and photosphere photos and see them in 3-D. Then share them with your friends as a way of them also "being there". It does work and has functional apps and games, but it rather limited and you might get bored quickly.
I bought one for myself and gave one as a Christmas gift since they are much more affordable.
