Perfect for Radiant Heat
This is one of the very few wifi thermostats that don't require a C-wire. I have hydronic heat in my house (hot water pipes in the floor) and nearly every room has a thermostat in it to control the heat in that room--so zone heating. They only ran 3-wire thermostat wire to those thermostats. Unfortunately, they don't use the 3rd wire at all--just two (red and white). That wire runs back to a control board--which doesn't even have the option of hooking up the third wire (for common). So I needed something that was battery powered. I'd used Lux previously (the DMH110) to replace the old Honeywell analog round thermostats with at least a digital thermostat. But now I wanted a wifi connection so I knew what all these zones were doing. This is the perfect option. They're easy to wire up and they're easy to set up. The only thing to watch out for is some of these sold on eBay have been previously install. So if your Geo will connect to you network, but you can't add it to you app, that's a good clue. If the date and time are wrong that usually means the thermostat is reaching back to the account it was first registered to. Just contact Lux, they usually fixed that problem within a day or two.

Only Battery Powered WiFi Thermostat Out There!
Only battery powered wifi thermostat out there! I have a house that has radiant heat with an early form of zone heating. There's a thermostat in each room that connects to a control panel that then controls the valves to release hot water for each room when the thermostat calls for it. Subsequently, they only ran two-wire cable to each thermostat. And if you've been looking at wifi thermostats, you'll know that nearly all of them require a c-wire to power that connect. Not the Lux GEO! This is the only thermostat that I've found that connect to wifi on just battery power. Hookup is straight-forward (at least it was for me with only two wires) and the interface for connecting is intuitive and well thought out (unlike most apps). It's got a nice modern look to it as well. So this will look good on your wall and the data from either the app or website is helpful.
