Transcultural concepts
0 of 1 found this helpful Apparently Joyceen S. Boyle has racist views and it shows in the book with this quote "Execerse is often defined in terms of White middle-class values. Not everyone has access to the tennis court at a local country club, and many individuals would not feel comfortable in such surroundings or in aerobics classes regardless of the setting." pages 283-284. My belief is that just maybe some of those people who belong to country clubs actually had to work for a living to get there and maybe Joyceen is jealous and is trying to start a class envy. This makes me wonder if Joyceen has had to actually work for a living or she has a HUGE chip on her shoulder. At the end of my semester I will be going to the dean of my university and ask that this book be pulled because of Joyceen and her attitude. The other authors give you facts and examples and their information is better written. BUT, I find it hard to believe some of these people live in the U.S. It is almost like they want you to bend over and excuse your culture to anyone and everyone else. All I want to do is understand some of the foreign cultures coming into MY COUNTRY and not change the American lifestyle for them. I do not appreciate the tone coming from Joyceen. If this person claims to be a professional nurse, she should retire and knock off the racist attitude. I can tell you I am not the only one taken back by her comments. They are not appreciated and I would reccommend this book for the dumpster and not for the classroom!
