Tim Burton at his best!
This kooky story about the skeleton king who wants more from life than Halloween takes the viewer through all of the best movie emotions- fear, joy, sadness, anticipation, and grossed out! The movie puts a new twist on the yearly holidays, giving each characters and emotions. The music is, pardon the pun, haunting at times, but a joy to listen to. Since the movie came out, my family has listened to "This is Halloween" and watched the movie every October! The characters may not be entirely suitable for the very youngest of kids, if they frighten easily (skeletons, vampires, zombies, and the Boogie man all have feature roles). But, don't let that turn you off, as most of them as also rather endearing, in their Halloween-ish way. Most children enjoy the movie quite a bit. The claymation of the movie is breath-taking in its detail and lighting. The film is always interesting to look at! It is also a clever movie for adults, so no one will be bored watching!! Definitely a movie for the whole family!

Get Smart and Get this Movie!!
This movie, although it is a pop culture comedy, was surprisingly hilarious. I was not expecting the movie to be beyond the standard summer flick that is easily forgotten. It still has some fluff to it, but in a good way. The actors establish their characters well and pull out surprises when you least expect them. A few homages were made to the original, but the movie stands alone well without anyone needing to know it had any other origins. The sentiments of humanizing the enemy is well-timed for our era, although stereotypes shine through some scenes. Over-all, a great movie for kids or adults!!

Great series! Great read!!
I have really come to love the creative twists that Brian Vaughan brings to the comic world. The series, "Runaways," is a great example of a new kind of superhero. The children of supervillians decide that they would rather go the other way in the world. The execution and creativity of the book is really a worthwhile read. I've been sucked in and have to keep going! I can't wait to see what happens.
