Intel Core i7 980X 3.33 GHz Six Core processor

Very nice upgrade at a used price
1 of 1 found this helpful Upgraded from an i7-920 (4 core) to this i7-980x (6 core). The original when new was 4x the price of the use 980. The 980 is also faster. So overall the upgrade was very successful. Be prepared with some fresh heat transfer paste.
The 980x is a drop-in replacement for the 920, but I did search the web first to confirm that this specific cpu would be compatible with my P6 motherboard. Though the form factor and socket are the same, it was still best to be sure.
PCI-E Express Card TO 4 Ports USB 3.0 Host Expansion For Desktop W/Front Panel

Good product, But
It does exactly what it needs to, i.e., it provides a 3.0 USB port for a system with an older motherboard. I made sure that the card would fit, check my system to be sure there would be no interference.
But, this item came with a front panel extension that requires a 3 1/2 bay opening and my system only has 5 1/4 bays. This was slightly disappointing, but I got what I needed. The main draw back is that I have to reach around the back to plug in my 3.0 drives and thumbs.
