Perfect CPU Upgrade from 840/650 etc in DELL XPS-600
1 of 1 found this helpful Got 2 hold Dell XPS-600 with XH241 mother board. The fastest supported CPU you can put on that motherboard is the Intel Pentium Extreme Edition (EE) 965. Just replace it, the bios will see it and run with on reboot automatically. Also, this CPU runs "cooler"!!
Then put Windows 7 64bits and 8Gig of RAM... you will see a FAST one here, no need to buy new one if you already have a running computer with all installed software... More performance? Put a Kingston SSDNow 100 V+ Solid State Drive SATA in, and move the boot disk on to it, the software to do this automatically is included with the Kingston solid state drive package.
You want to be green? to recycle? Well, here's your chance to show it! And nobody will notice it's a 5 years old PC, trust me! Mine used to boot in 5 minutes, to load all, etc... now less than 60 sec...
