Fantastic Speedlight for Both Pro and Novice
Speedlights are expensive and intimidating to the newbie and even experienced photographer. This flash, while manual, puts out a powerhouse of light and is fairly intuitive to use. I fumble a bit with the directional buttons (I need to study more) but this flash produces nice results, has multi directions, comes with a flash card and diffuser (useful in a pinch although you should invest in a better one) and operates as either a master or slave. I think the build is pretty decent and though it is large, it is easy to handle with decent heft. Obviously your more expensive pro speedlights will have TTL and better specs, but honestly, I have no complaints! I use it with Cactus IV remotes and you can dial up or down the output power and even select the zoom factor.
If you are on a budget, (or even if you aren't!) and don't require TTL (come one, branch out and learn how to use that manual!) this is definitely the speedlight to try.

Gives the natural a beautiful cast of color.
Despite the fact that I can represent this in photoshop, I love landscape through a "brown-colored" lens like through my sunglasses. This warming filter does exactly that, with no discernable softness or distortion. It makes the greens pop and provides a beautiful cast.

Hidden gem is all it is reputed to be and more!
1 of 1 found this helpful I purchased this product partly because I wanted more reach for wildlife and it was the most affordable way to achieve it without adding weight and astronomical cost. I had done an exhaustive research and review-reading--this baby IS all that it is reputed to be and MORE. Images are SHARP--and I have the kit 55-300mm pentax which is good, but nowhere near the quality of the 300* prime. I was half expecting to be disappointed, but my wildlife shots have been exceedingly sharp with strands of hair on a deer and feather texture just fine details. The bokeh is actually beautiful on this gem. If you can find it for sale, buy it! Unless you have a grand or more to drop on a decent telephoto, this is definitely the way to go.
