I have a set that is over 30 years old that I keep in a small toolbox and they do the same. I have some Craftsmen screwdrivers also do that. A search on the Internet will provide several ways to treat that.

Direct factory replacement.

Quality Product
Replaced the leaking oem rear (pto end) seal on a Kohler 18 Hp engine. Went on easy and is keeping the oil in the engine, where it belongs.
