I had an almost identical product for about 20 years and so glad to find this one as a replacement
I had an almost identical product (just slightly larger) for about 20 years, but recently it stopped working. So I tried to find the same product online and only fount it here at ebay. During searching, I saw various products in the same price range, but I liked none of them although some even had more functionalities. I'm glad I was able to find this same product. I like its compact, simple, but poised shape. The only disappointment I have is its color. My old one is yellow and I like yellow better, but only black is available here. But my wife said she liked the black one better when I showed her both units side by side.

Lots of features and pretty handsets
2 of 2 found this helpful I bought this system about a year ago and overall have been happy with it. This system has lots of useful features. It has a digital answering system. The color display of the handset is very bright and appealing to look at (the handset itself is pretty). The calendar display (one of several wall options) is very useful and the reminder function in the calendar can be used as an alarm system (the reminder can be set to daily, weekly, monthly or yearly). The hand-free speaker (both base and handsets) is loud and clear and you can also use a standard 2.5mm headset (not inclused, but I got a couple of them from a $1 store and they work just fine). The handsets can be used as walkie-talkie or intercom. If I want to ask my wife something while she is reading in bed upstairs and I'm in the study downstairs, I only need to pick up the handset on the desk and connect to the handset on the nightstand by the bed without having to yell to the hall or walk to the stairs. Such communication won't block incoming calls. One negative effect on me is that I often get called by my wife from the back yard to bring something to her (she's learnt to clip a handset to her belt when she goes to work outside the house). Otherwise she would come to the house to get them and I wouldn't be bothered. You can install a backup battery (same type of battery as used in handsets) in the base and the system will still work during power outage. The phone book can store 100 entries and upto 4 numbers for each entry. It has all the features of a cell phone, such as redialing (up to last 20 numbers called), saving called numbers or numbers of incoming calls (need call id service), speed dialing.
Finally something I don't like. You can only enter up to 20 digits (including pauses) into a number slot. I find it's really a nearsighted design. Now people often use a digital phone card to make long distance calls, especially international calls. To make such a call, you need to call a local number or a 800 number, enter access code, a country code, area code and the number. This can easily exceed 20 digits. I wish they could make a update in the software to increase the limit (I think you usually don't need four number slots for each entry).
