Adaptec RAID 51245 2268100-R SATA/SAS memory Controller Card

Good but not for what i wanted it for

Its nice good features the drivers were kind of a pain to find. But windows 7 8 and 10 will not play nice with this card and optical drives they show up as scsi cd/dvd drives but windows won't read them just shows that they are there if there is a way to fix that i can't find it even contacted the manufacturer and they told me it does not work with optical drives... my fault it doesn't work for what i wanted! Hit and miss on these

1-29-2017 Edit Windows or adaptec updated some drivers and now it will work just fine. I can confirm it works with windows 10 64-bit version 1607 build 14393.693 and optical drives work just fine now also they have to be attached at boot for them to work in windows though. hot swap works with disk drives but not the optical drives.Read full review

Perfect for media server

This is exactly what I was looking for. The adapters original MSRP was over 800.00 and the latest versions similarly priced. As a hobbyist, these card new are to expensive and the consumer options are junk. I installed it on a 6 year old AMD motherboard running Server 2012, no issues installing or acquiring drivers from manufacturer. Configured my system, 10 2tb 3.5 SATA hard drives to RAID 5ee, with no problems. After transferring the bazillion files back to the array, my oldest hard drive failed. Replaced the drive and bit my nails for 5 hours while the array was repaired. No loss of data! Worked the way it was supposed to. Read full review

Very useful thing and cost lower than its analogs. Works fine half-year in 24/7 mode in my home server. I have RAID5 array consisting of 4 WD 2Tb and RAID1 array consists of 2 Seagate 2Tb. All works perfect! Rebuild tests have passed. Tested OS: Windows Server 2008/2012, VMWare ESXi 5.1/5.5.
