Fantastic Portable tool for recording
In today's times when it's possible to record wave and Mp3s directly from source I'm not sure how many of you would want a cassette player but I'm among the few who still loves cassettes!
Apart from it's playback quality which is par excellelance it's recording it's fabulous if you use a good source/mic and a High quality cable! I was amazed by the recording capabilities of this unit! I played back the recordings on my Nakamichi ZX9 and I was quite blown! Of course it did not match the Nak but it did sound as though I had recorded on a good quality cassette deck!
Note: high end cables are necessary for quality recording. Rather they make a huge difference! Read full review

I"ve just purchased the Sony Walkman Professional WM-D6C and couldn't be happier. Who knew that cassettes could sound so good on the go? This unit's transport feels solid and inspires confidence. I am smitten by the quality of the playback and look seriously forward to taking pre-recorded tapes made on my two full-size decks with me on the road. Sony Walkman Professional WMD6C
As advertised, it needed repairs. I have wanted one since they were new and I was a struggling radio producer. I was hoping this one would be an early model, and after I found a source for looking it up by serial number, found that it was made in 1984, the first year of production. It's perfect. All fixed now and sounds great. Thank you.

Recording and playback small marvel.
Whatever I may want to say is immaterial because this recorder is already a legend. Plus I haven't really had the chance to put it through its paces beyond playback. It's a wonderful item and you can't go wrong if you have the need for it. Buy it and enjoy it.

Yes it's expensive, yes its big. But this is an amazing piece of kit. Compared to other high end Walkmans it performs better and last longer. You'd be hard pressed to find anything better. In regards to cassette tapes this is the only Walkman you will ever need.Read full review

Good but unobtanium is broken
Everything worked except the record level and I'm going through a very lengthy and delicate repair on it right now. The board on it snapped and I've glued the board with epoxy but I had to get some conductive carbon paint to fix the boards circuits. It's going to take me a couple of more days until I can't test to see if the record level works. Other than that it is a very nice walkman. It does record but it only recorded in a very very small point that only allowed it to record at maximum record level.Read full review

Good unit, only one issue! But fixable..
The take up wheel is the only thing that needs to be repaired. It won't work pulling a tape through Other than that it was in good shape!
