Still the amazing Spyro, just a bit buggier.

The biggest problems about the game is the fact that it is unoptimized, the story is a lot smaller, and the games much shorter. But that's about it! This is still Spyro the Dragon as I remember it and it was definitely worth playing. I had a good time with the fourth installment despite the fact that it isn't as good as the original trilogy. Still, if you have a PS2 I'd say give it a chance. If you're a fan of Spyro I'm sure you already have it though.Read full review...

If you can deal with the framerate and bugs, this game can be a great one.

Enter the Dragonfly was the first Spyro game for PS2. The company who made it, Check Six Games, was a newcomer to the Gaming industry and set out to create this new Spyro game. According to many fans and reviewers, the game was a major flop due to the amount of bugs and problems with the game. The game has a giant amount of bugs ranging from funny animation glitches to glitches that get you killed or make you restart the level. The framerate is also a major bummer to this game. The game suffers from choppy framerate ranging from 15 frames to a full 60 frames. This can cause headaches and eye strains and is not good for people prone to seizures. Looking past the bad bugs and framerate, the game is actually very enjoying. The game is much shorter than previous games, having only 8 levels total, but the game makes up for that by having very giant levels. he scale of the level size is almost twice what the older games of the series had. The levels themselves are subject-able. Some levels can be boring in some areas and some can really get you interested and having fun. The Graphics of the game are very good and represent the original series spot on. Spyro himself looks very good and animates smoothly. The soundtrack of this game is what really makes it shine. It was composed by the previous series' composer, Stewart Copeland. He did an amazing job capturing the atmosphere of the worlds and making a track for them. This game really deserves more than it gets from fans if you can look past the bugs. The game is very fun and can keep you playing for hours.Read full review...

A childhood favorite.

Despite the glitches, this was my 3rd favorite game as a child! I I love it still. I wish the developers would have finished it the way they wanted but universal forced them to rush the game way before completion so it is kind of short. Although, it will always have a special place in my heart.Read full review...

Just As I Remember It And The Game Came Quick!

Thank you! Not only did the product come in on time, it was in great condition. Very very slight and not really noticeable damages on the case, but thats what its there for! To protect the important part of the products. The game manual is in great condition along with the disc. No scratches (at least from what I can see). I cant wait to jump in to a childhood game. Now to find the first three in the beginning of Spyro's adventures to add to my collection!Read full review...

Good game

Coding of the game is slightly off but overall the story and gameplay are good, it's difficult to control and fly to certain places.

GameCube version has less bugs. The game's worth a try.

This is my 10-yr old daughter's opinion:

"Pros: good graphics for an earlier PS2 title, decent to good soundtrack, lasts a while with value, a little like the classics, good gameplay | Cons: Gets boring after about half an hour, collision is horrible, dragonflies are annoying, constant glitches, dull storyline, did I mention CONSTANT GLITCHES?!?!

Note: This is judged off the GameCube version and the PS2 version bugs added into it.
I will tell you what kind of gamer I am so you understand my judgment-

I am a die-hard Spyro fan (I have so many collectables it’s not funny); I am mostly into action, adventure, RPG and strategy games; I finish medium difficulty games in usually a week (Then, add on collectables and bonuses, I usually complete games entirely); and I am an XBox 360 achievement LOVER… boy, can’t go past those.

Now! Spyro The Dragon made the beginning of his debuts in 1998. The titles that came after Spyro’s first game, Gateway to Glimmer (Better known as Ripto’s Rage) and Year of The Dragon, were huge successes. After Year of The Dragon, Season of Ice was released. Beyond that were Season of Flame and Enter the Dragonfly- and the REAL review starts here...

Even though I AM a die-hard Spyo fan, the storyline is boring. It's a ripto- and- dragonfly version of Year of The Dragon. And Year of The Dragon felt too copied from GTG/RR!. Not in storyline, but in gameplay. The storyline is probably one of the worst parts of the game which is a shame...

considering it has good gameplay. But everything in this game has a problem. The thing wrong with the gameplay is that it gets boring quickly and the collision and dragonfly-catching pull it down.

Another thing wrong with the game is the constant amount of glitches. seriously, if half a level's missing, you might as well not have the level (this was fixed in later copies of the game.)!

Soundtrack has some decent tunes but what's wrong with it? It's not that interesting and I STRONGLY dislike some parts of the music.

All-in-all, unless the copy you're buying isn't pre-owned, go for the GameCube version. That one wasn't so rushed which takes out most of the bugs, and later copies were even better. So, the bottom line is, 'fun gameplay, but a lot of things pull it down'."

Good game

I bought this game because I wanted to relive some of my childhood. The game has worked perfectly so far. The game is a good game, but not as good as the older spyro games like Spyro: Year of the dragon, Spyro: Dawn of the dragon and Spyro: Ripto's rage. However, if you are a die hard Spyro fan like me then you will enjoy this.Read full review...

Lightweight with great features

This game is part of the Spyro series and I have all the others. After playing all the later games it is not as detailed as they are but fun for a beginner.

Good Game for a Good Price

As a fan of the Spyro series, I had to get this game and I'm glad I did. It has a similar feel to the 3 original Spyro titles for the PlayStation 1, but with improved graphics. The gameplay and plot are simple and straight-forward, making it an excellent kid's game. My only problem with the game was when it began to glitch towards the end, causing me to have to restart certain levels over again. Other than that, I enjoyed the game and would recommend it to anyone who is also a Spyro fan.Read full review...
