Attractive price may not be worth the trade offs

The DIR-615 showed great speed (90Mbps) at short distances (1-25 feet ). Although at 200 feet the router pushed a lowly 8 Mbps. A typical single level family home of 300 feet the unit, even with its two antennas failed more than operated. It did work in most the rooms and the basement but nowhere outside .
The D-Link DIR-615 handled video and music streaming smoothly, and VoIP calls were handled well,
It lacked any Gigabit ports , which meant your wired connection will take longer to transfer files than a premium router, but you can always use Wi-Fi when available. The low price was attractive. The DIR-615 is the most inexpensive N router you'll find on the market.
The unit came with a quick guide that didn't work for my application (as a second router) and a CD that did, after an hour, had me setup and running.
I would spend an extra $25 to $35 and get a faster router, if you had the means.Read full review...

Works 95% of the time

This router occasionally resets on its own, interrupting my internet connection (which can be quite disruptive). I typically have to manually power-cycle the device at least once per day, and sometimes more. I understand that this product is very cheap ($15 at the time of my purchase) and that it's refurbished, but I expect that "refurbished" should mean "previously-broken-but-fixed-now." Instead, it seems buggy and not completely fixed. I will soon be attempting to return/exchange the product, and I have no reason to believe that this problem is inherent to the model, but just due to this particular not-quite-refurbished device.Read full review...

The unit works and stable.

tell you guys what I went thru to get this router to flash in DD-wrt.. Hmm took it apart.. had to order a 3.3Volt LVTTL cell phone USB interface to talk to the OS. Did some soldering three wires ground(blue), TX (White), RX (Green)wires to Hyperterm into. I fought this thing for a solid WEEK! waited a month for interfacing cables. The 5 volt com port cable doesn't work don't even try. Just throws junk on the screen in terminal. after getting into the os low level. and erased the Vram. than Reboot it.. it took more fighting with it and unplugging it many times. than it fixed it self magically. I got an 192.168.1.1 to come up. and I got an IP. I than finally got DD_wrt to flash.
once that is done. I haven't had an issue! I don't smoke but I needed a cig after all this unnecessary b.s. i went thru,but if you like D-Link more power to ya. I got this for the external Antennas thing it would go thru walls HA! What a Mess that was and the Limited things in the DD-WRT was Confusing. it wasn't even the same as ALL the other Linksys firmware. So I don't know what I am going to do with this unit. I went and got another Linksys WRT320 after this mess. unit is fine but I didn't want to mess with its confusing OS. MY info is LEAVE IT to Factory Default. buy some Linksys instead. D-Link DIR-615 Wireless N Router

This is a great little wireless router. The set up was super simple, just follow the on screen instructions. The wireless security was easy as 1,2,3 to set up and works like a charm. It took me a total of maybe 20 minutes from start to finish to have everything up and running. This included connecting and configuring 3 Hardwire LAN computers and 1 Wireless LAN laptop to the router. I am getting almost full bars (Very Good) connectivity throught anywhere in the house on the wireless end. I was using the EBR-2310 before switching to this N Router and I have nothing but good things to say about it so far. A product must for anyone looking for an inexpensive way to upgrade their home network.

Excellent value

I bought this unit to run a wired only printer and wired only voip phone in my seasonal rental place in Florida. There's good wifi but I don't have physical access to the router. I replaced the D-LINK firmware with dd-wrt firmware and configured it as a client bridge. It works perfectly.

I chose this D-LINK unit because it's listed as a dd-wrt acceptable device. The price is excellent.

Inexpensive yet wonderful, wireless N router. Great Buy

I was worried that a router this inexpensive might not perform well enough for my liking. Rest assured, the D-link DIR-615 Wireless Router will shine for the run-of-the-mill everyday user. We don't do any super gaming stuff but for streaming video and regular gaming, this router has done everything asked of it...well! I replaced a 3 year old Netgear WPN824 (had cost me about $70) that had died, with this $20 D-Link and I am totally satisfied. The old router was a N150 and this (to my surprise) is a N300. The router is on the 1st floor, in the front of the house. The reception in my bedroom, on the 2nd floor in the back, is better than before. The best thing is, the setup was a breeze and painless. I was up and running 20 minutes after opening the box. Awesome! I would recommend this router for general family use. I can't speak on high end usage because we don't do alot of that in our home. Excellent customer service!

The router is great! Its very fast, inexpensive, and has great tech support and customer service. I bought a netgear router from walmart and had trouble setting it up so I called their customer service. They were unable to figure out my problem after over an hour and ended up telling me that the router was bad, which I highly doubt. Then I bought the d-link and had the exact same problem, so I called tech support and expected the same result. After about 10 minutes, they solved my problem which was a simple DNS server issue. After that they went the extra mile and walked me through the setup so I didn't have to read through the instructions manually.

I highly recommend this product! Its a solid router, with directional antennas, and good range. The price is incredible also, you certainly get more than your moneys worth. The customer service is where this product really stands out. They are fast, helpful, and knowledgeable.Read full review...
